FRIDAY JUNE 6, 2025, STE. GENEVIEVE GOLF CLUB This was a great golf event for young golfers ages 10-18 and it was professionally run by the Jr. Golf Division of the Gateway PGA. This is a qualifying tournament for the Optimist Championships at Doral Resort and Spa in Miami. Sharon Parton, Optimist International Sr. Director of the Jr. Golf Program, and her intern, were on site to assist with details. Our EMO District provides financial support to the top boy in the 16-18 age group and the top girl in the 15-18 age group to attend the Optimist Championships.
Although the tournament was cut short due to bad weather, the girls 15-18 age group did finish and the 1st Place winner was Julie Schlitt! The 2nd place winner was Lynlee Rubach. Both girls qualified to go to the Championships! Our District will pay the registration fee for Julie Schlitt! Both are pictured below with Joe Hatfield, our District Jr. Golf Chair. Julia was sponsored by the Jackson Noon Club. Additionally, Josie Welch, the 3rd place winner, qualified to go to the Championships.
The qualifiers for the boys 16-18 age group were determined by an at-large process facilitated by Sharon Parton after our tournament was rained out. Cole Packingham won 1st place and our District will pay his registration fee for the Championships. Cole Hendrix, Caden Fehr, Samuel Koishor, and Trey Roessher also qualified for the Championships.
As a sponsor of East Missouri Optimist Jr. Golf program, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of those young golfers we serve. Currently, we offer 2 scholarships in the form of covering the registration fee to the Jr. Golf Championships. Your support will help us to expand our programs and possibly offer more such scholarships. Contact us today to learn more about becoming a sponsor or check out the Sponsorship Form below.

Your generous donations help us continue our mission of bringing out the best in youth, our community, and ourselves! Because of your support, we are able to continue to send the top girl Jr. Golfer in the 15-18 age group and the top boy in the 16-18 age group to the Optimist Championships at Doral Resort and Spa in Miami!
We're always looking for new partners to collaborate with on projects and events. If your organization shares our values and mission, let's work together to make a positive impact.
